Munich Security Conference 2025
16. February 2025
After the dramatic speech by US vice president JD Vance, a murmur went through the hall of the Bayerischer Hof. The shared values of freedom were called into question. Perhaps this speech on February 14 was the historic moment for Europe's self-confident stance in a now truly multipolar world order.
At the 61st Munich Security Conference, our NGO focused on cyber resilience and security policy and participated in the debates at numerous events to support democracy through technology.
How can we positively shape the European view of the international security architecture and how can technology help to reduce the misuse of social media and attacks on critical infrastructure via the internet? In Germany in particular, we are experiencing an intensification of the internal debate on democracy shortly before the elections. It remains to be seen whether we can work together to set the course for peace in Europe (particularly in Ukraine, of course) and whether diplomatic talks can be initiated for other trouble spots.
In any case, the Web3 World Society has been actively involved in shaping the networking of the world in such a way that the Internet does not become another theater of war. For this we need technopolitical solutions.
We are grateful for the intensive (especially transatlantic) discussions with NATO, the UN, the Aspen Institute, the White House, the EU Parliament and many others.
